Modern Mobility Aids, Inc, a former distributor of mobility devices, is now venturing into the alternative medicine sector with a focus on medicinal marijuana. Though this company is based in Nevada, USA, it intends to enter the Canadian market particularly as a marijuana developer and producer.
For its new business in the cannabis industry, Modern Mobility Aids has established its wholly owned subsidiary, the MDRM Group Canada, Ltd. This subsidiary will handle the company’s future operations in the Canadian marijuana industry. These will include acquisitions, agreements with herbal producers, and joint ventures.
The MDRM Group has made progress on this front. It has recently closed an agreement with Easton Pharmaceuticals, Inc, which is a Canadian pharma company with development projects on medicinal cannabis. This agreement between MDRM and Easton allows the latter to purchase a maximum of 49% of a yet-unnamed medical cannabis company.
Modern Mobility Aids is looking at other industry investments as well, which may include those in licensed US suppliers. One of the most recent company investments is its purchase of 50% interest in a Canadian cultivator named Green Calyx, Inc.
Founded and incorporated in 2007, Modern Mobility Aids started under the name Glider, Inc, then changed to its current name in 2010. As the name suggests, it formerly distributed mobility products such as wheelchairs and walkers. It also formerly catered to the Russian market.
Modern Mobility Aids, Inc is now traded as MDRM in the US OTC markets. Its market cap is pegged at USD 3.77 M.
The top executive at Modern Mobility Aids is CEO Kenneth R. Pinckard, joined by President and CFO Preston J. Shea. The company also has Dr. Baseer U Khan, Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee and Chief Medical Director; and Gilbert S. Sharpe, Executive Advisor.
